Venue: Online, via YouTube
In this podcast, Newcastle University Senior Lecturer and counter-tenor Dr. Larry Zazzo speaks to Dramaturg Konrad Kuhn about what a dramaturg is and how this might relate to revivals of Baroque opera, more specifically in his role as a dramaturg for the revival of Claus Guth's production of Handel's 1725 opera Rodelinda.
We hear from Konrad Kuhn, Dramaturg at the Frankfurt Opera, who studied comparative literature and theatre studies in Berlin. He has taught at the universities of Vienna and Frankfurt am Main, and has worked as an acting dramaturg first at the Burgtheater in Vienna, then the Munich State Theater at Gärtnerplatz, and the Zurich Opera House. He has further been a guest dramaturg at the Theater an der Wien, the Vienna State Opera, the Opéra national de Paris, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Berlin State Opera, the Salzburg Festival, the Bayreuth Festival, the Baden-Baden Easter Festival, and the Festival d'Automne, among others in Paris, in Düsseldorf, Bologna, São Paulo and Tallinn. He collaborates regularly with directors Claus Guth, Tobias Kratzer and Robert Wilson.
