Mx Leo David (NUSU President 2024-2025)
Leo is the current Students’ Union President for this academic year. Their main responsibility is leading in representing Newcastle University’s student body within the University and nationally. Before this, they served as Disability Officer for NUSU, where their work included writing a disability policy and representing disabled students in the University’s Access and Participation Plan Student Collaborative Group.
Leo has just finished the third year of their MBiol Zoology degree and will be completing their studies after their sabbatical year. Asides from previous voluntary work with NUSU, Leo has volunteered extensively in education and animal care with Tutor the Nation and Ouseburn Farm. They have a strong interest in educational equity and disability justice.
One of Leo’s main priorities for their term as President is improving accessibility and inclusion, especially for marginalised students, through things such as cost of living support and raising awareness.
