Mags was born in Northumberland and, after attending Bedlingtonshire High School, went to Manchester University to study Chemical Engineering in 1996. She joined Deloitte LLP in 2000, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2003. She moved to Deloitte’s London office in 2012 and became a partner in 2019. In 2021 she and her wife moved back to Northumberland, and she left Deloitte in 2024 with a view to a new role in and for the North East.
At Deloitte, Mags supported Chief Financial Officers across the public sector to increase the value, contribution and efficiency of the finance and wider corporate functions. Alongside her client-facing role, she was one of the sponsoring partners for Deloitte’s LGBT+ network, Proud, and was one of the firm’s Respect & Inclusion advisers.
She is a member of Newcastle University’s Council and Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee.
