About Yuhong
I am a PhD student from Guilin, China. Before conducting my PhD, I studied and worked in the field of urban planning and urban study.
Project description
The project refers to robotization as an approach to automation using industrial robots, an infrastructure that can lower workers’ workload, reduce costs, respond faster to market demand.
Based in domestic appliance industry in China, the main purpose is to document, describe, interpret, and explain the uneven diffusion of robotisation - as a disruptive technology in the context of industry 4.0, how it unfolds in a geographically and sectorally uneven way? It breaks down as follows:
- What are the factors that enable or slow down robotisation?
- To what extent robotisation breaks the lock-in effect to create new industrial paths, and at what expense?
- How the genericness of robotisation was transformed to the geographical and sectoral peculiarity?
Research interests
My research interests are evolutionary economic geography, variegated capitalism, state capitalism etc, but also extent to urban studies in China’s setting.
