Geoff has over 15 years of experience as a teacher and lecturer in the Politics department at Newcastle University.

Geoff's PhD was related to the study of the British Labour Party in the post-war period: Crosland's Socialism. A History of the Labour Party's revisionist tradition, 1951-81 (2006).
He has produced a biography of Reg Prentice, the Labour Cabinet minister who defected to the Conservative Party in 1977: Crossing the Floor. Reg Prentice and the crisis of British social democracy (Manchester University Press, 2015)
He is currently researching changes of parliamentary allegiance in the British House of Commons since 1918.
Geoff has taught on various modules within the Politics department at Newcastle University. These include modules on British politics, EU politics and Comparative politics.
He is currently Module Leader for the Stage 1 Politics module, The Westminster System (POL1015)
