Staff Profile
I’m a researcher with a background in medical sociology. My broad interests are care work and sites of care, inequalities and how individuals and groups navigate them, and how can we work towards social justice, particularly as it relates to health and wellbeing. I have a great deal of expertise using qualitative methods, including in-depth interviews, focus groups, and ethnography.
Given my interests and my methodological skillset I have worked on a range of research projects including understanding public perceptions of health data sharing in the NHS, the impact of smoking cessation policies for those in mental health hospitals, and understanding the impact of COVID-19 on safe discharges from hospitals in care homes.
I have a BA in Sociology (University of York), an MA in Sociology and Social Research (Newcastle University) and a PhD in Medical Sociology (Teesside). I was a Research Fellow at Northumbria University before joining Newcastle University.
