Faculty Research Infrastructure
Alongside our academic Schools, the Faculty supports research institutes, groups and centres to enable interdisciplinary collaboration.
Newcastle University Centres of Research Excellence
The University's Centres of Research Excellence (NUCoREs) have been created to deliver world-leading research and impact in areas that span the full range of disciplines. Although they include researchers from each of the University’s three Faculties, several of these NUCoREs are led by our Faculty.
Faculty Research Groups
Working across and between our individual schools, Faculty Research Groups (FRGs) support collaboration in specific areas. FRGs bring together researchers from diverse academic backgrounds. They share their approaches and expertise. They also nurture, coordinate and produce interdisciplinary research and impact.

Research Centres
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is the base for a number of research centres, each embedded in one of our Schools. They have a distinguished history, with a long record of supporting innovative, cross-disciplinary research. The Centres make important contributions to policy, society and culture on a local, national and global scale.
