Newcastle historian recognised for exceptional research
Professor Daniel Siemens is awarded the prestigious Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award.

Congratulations to Daniel Siemens, Professor of European History at the School of History, Classics and Archaeology, for the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award.
The EUR 45.000 award is given annually to internationally renowed academics, recognising their outstanding accomplishments in research and their exceptional promise for the future.
Professor Siemens will use the grant to collaborate with Professor Süss from the University of Augsburg, Germany on a project that will explore the politics and practices of reparations in the post-1945 world.
Professor Siemens will be presented with the award in Berlin on 27 June.
