The Film

Dr Ali Mozaffari has been visiting Newcastle University.  He hosted a screening of a short documentary film, Taq Kasra: Wonder of Architecture.  The film delves into the history of one of the most wonderful architectural buildings in the world, Taq Kasra, located in Iraq. The film captures the essence of how certain sites become heritage. Made during the iconoclastic rampage by the so-called Islamic State, Taq Kasra, the film, is a magnificent testimony of how film and heritage work together to create a document that will be of interest not only for staff and students in Heritage Studies, Architecture, Archaeology and Geography but also in Film Studies and Film Practice.

After the screening, Dr. Antonio González, Reader in Heritage Studies at Newcastle University, had a chat with Ali about the documentary, the building and the problematics of managing a Persian heritage site in Iraq.
