English language and visa requirements

If your first language isn't English you will generally need an IELTS score of 6.5, or equivalent, to study at Newcastle University. Some courses have different requirements, so please check the course you want to study.

Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarships - Postgraduate (2025 entry)

Newcastle University is pleased to offer 30 Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarships (VCES) for outstanding international applicants who apply to commence full-time Master’s studies on an eligible programme.

  • 30 scholarships

Value of award

  • Up to 50% of 100% of tuition fees

Vice-Chancellor's International Scholarships - Undergraduate (2025)

Newcastle University is pleased to offer Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships to assist international students to study an undergraduate degree.

Value of award

  • £6,000 tuition fee awards

  • September 2025 for the duration of your course

Application closing date

  • Awards will be allocated throughout the academic year before the start of the student’s degree' for same purpose.

Vice-Chancellor's International Scholarships - Postgraduate (2025)

Newcastle University is pleased to offer 500 partial Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships to assist international students to study a postgraduate Master’s degree.

  • £7,000 tuition fee awards

Newcastle - India Leadership and Innovation Scholarship (2025 entry)

Newcastle University is pleased to offer 10 Newcastle – India Leadership and Innovation Scholarship awards for applicants from India who apply to commence full-time, one-year Master’s studies on an eligible programme.
