About NUIT
Technology Operations
Technology Operations deliver and support the Information Technology solutions that meet the current and future needs of the University. We ensure our core platforms, business applications and academic technology solutions are stable and resilient while delivering effective service delivery to customers.
Infrastructure
We are responsible for the day-to-day running and management of the core IT building blocks on which all other University technology relies. Including the operational service of our network infrastructure and telephony.
Software Engineering and Enterprise Solutions
We deliver and support all applications and services developed in-house, along with Enterprise applications that support critical University functions in areas such as Finance, HR, Student Lifecycle, Teaching and Learning.
End-User Computing and AV
We support all end-user devices and look after the University's audio-visual and collaboration tools.
Service Desk and Service Quality
Our Service Desk provides first-line support via telephone and self-service and route incidents and requests to other areas of NUIT. We are also the first point of call for all members of the University who are joining, moving or leaving!
Our Service Bars provide in-person support and can help with regular IT enquiries, password re-sets and deal with printing difficulties.
We provide key reporting to NUIT and the wider University to support business process improvement.
Academic IT
Academic IT deliver services with very specific requirements that cannot sensibly be provided at scale from within our other Technology Operations teams. We support and maintain the specialist hardware and software for both teaching and research.
Service Delivery
Service Delivery is the interface between the University and the IT Service. We ensure a customer-focussed service aligned with the University's Vision and Strategy.
Business Partnering
We are the strategic interface between the University and NUIT. Our team of Business Partners work with senior stakeholders to help align the University’s business and IT strategies, inform the NUIT delivery model and ensure NUIT operates as an effective business partner with all key stakeholders
Consultancy and Academic Support
Our team provides specialist advice, guidance, help and support for both research and education related IT challenges. We work with you to understand and analyse your specialist academic research and teaching requirements and to identify or design a suitable solution.
Service Management
Our team establishes and maintains the catalogue of NUIT Services, ensuring that services are fit for purpose, consistent and meet the needs of our customers. We work with the wider NUIT to manage service performance, develop service functionality and introduce new services to fill any gaps in service users’ requirements.
Business Support and Innovation
Our team works across the University to support business-led initiatives and major programmes of work. This includes, for example, the University’s annual business processes, large capital projects and prestigious events. We work with you to understand your requirements and we coordinate the provision of NUIT services needed to meet them. Wherever possible, we help to build, champion and facilitate innovation in the services we offer.
Digital Adoption
Our team enables and supports people to adopt efficient and effective working practices using NUIT services. We contribute to developing digital capability within the University, taking an inclusive, person-centred approach through partnerships with other University services.
Cyber Security
We ensure information assets are adequately protected to meet the University's business strategy and objectives.
Our role is to protect the integrity of the University’s systems and data, ensuring service users are engaged and supported to comply with good practice guidelines and legal processes.

IT Business Management
IT Business Management supports NUIT in the planning and delivery of its operations, ensuring management processes are robust, timely and effective.
Governance
The Governance function ensures effective and integrated planning and oversight of NUIT activity. We design, maintain and deliver a system of governance that provides timely assurance on business plan activities and performance against targets.
Supplier and Contract Management
We manage the key contracts and vendors across NUIT. We liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure the full contract lifecycle is managed in accordance with the University's procedures and legal obligations. We also ensure NUIT delivers optimal value for money.
Communications
We promote communications between NUIT and the wider University, providing specialist advice, support and information focussed services to ensure consistent and high-quality communications.
Operations
We provide the administrative, operations and facilities infrastructure to support the efficient and smooth running of NUIT. We ensure standard operating procedures are maintained, clear actions and responsibilities are identified, and the operation of NUIT is conducted appropriately and efficiently.
Office of the Chief Technical Officer (OCTO)
The OCTO develops and maintains effective strategies and capabilities for technologies, ensuring consistent, holistic delivery in alignment with the University’s business strategy and objectives.
Project Management
We set and maintain the standards for project management, creating procedures and best practices to help operations to go smoothly, complete on time and result in quality deliverables. We also monitor and report on impact and effectiveness to ensure activities offer value for money and are aligned to strategic objectives.
Architecture
We support and influence the IT strategy and roadmap for University technology delivery. We also provide structure and support to the development and delivery of emerging and innovative technologies. We set and maintain the policies, standards, procedures & guidelines required to ensure consistency, standardisation and alignment to the University Vision and Strategy.
