Research Retreat to Wallington Estate, Northumberland

Wallington Estate Collaborations Retreat visit

On Wednesday 19th June the Centre for Landscape hosted a researcher visit to the Wallington Estate, Northumberland. This provided an opportunity to view interventions at the site linked to the Wilder Wallington project, part of the National Trust’s Nature Accelerator Programme. The visit was led from the National Trust by Wilder Wallington Project Manager Elaine More, Senior Project Co-ordinator Hannah Haydock and Countryside Manager Paul Hewitt.

The group had the opportunity to see the progress of various interventions at the site, particularly changes in the landscape brought about by activities prioritising nature recovery and biodiversity. This visit and meeting was funded by the Newcastle University Research England Enhancing Research Culture Retreat Fund, and follows earlier meetings at the Estate organised by the Strategic Partnerships Team in connection with the University’s Memorandum of Understanding with the National Trust.
