Peer-Assisted Learning
The LRC offers a variety of language practice sessions led by native-level students intended to provide an informal and relaxed way to practise your language skills.
Peer-Assisted Learning
We can help you learn a language through our Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) Programme.
These weekly sessions are intended to provide an informal and relaxed way to practise your language skills.
Choose from a range of Conversation Groups and 1-to-1 sessions.
Please note languages and levels on offer are subject to change anytime, all information published was accurate at time of publish.
For up to date info on what we offer on the PAL Programme, please email language.resource@ncl.ac.uk or ask us in person in the LRC.
All members of Newcastle University who are registered with the Language Resource Centre can sign up for these sessions.
Conversation groups
As part of the centre's peer-assisted learning activity, the conversation groups are led by native-level speaking students. They're a great way to improve your speaking skills in a relaxed and informal setting with people of a similar level.
We offer a range of intermediate and advanced groups in several languages including:
- English
- French
- Spanish
1-to-1 Sessions
As part of the Language Resource Centre’s Peer-Assisted learning programme, our 20-minute individual sessions are an opportunity for members of the LRC to practise and improve language skills with a native-level speaking student. They can also serve to help merge language learnt before either in lessons or through independent study.
Members of the LRC can book a 20-minute 1-to-1 session with a student advisor. They are suitable for learners at any level from beginner to advanced.
We offer 1-to-1 sessions in:
- Arabic
- Chinese
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Korean
- Spanish
