Student Welfare
Get the support you need to make a success of your time with us. Our student support networks will help you transition from school to university.
Personal tutor
All stage one students have a personal tutor from among the academic staff.
Your personal tutor:
- is your link with the University
- is someone who can provide help and guidance for any problems that you may have
- can refer you on to the relevant Undergraduate and Postgraduate student support
Every student in the School has a personal tutor who is your first port of call.
Student wellbeing
We are proud to offer a supportive environment for all our students.
We are a diverse community and committed to support all students. We provide equal opportunities for all – whatever your:
- gender
- sexuality
- ethnicity
- disability
- background
The Student and Staff Wellbeing Service offers free and confidential support. Student Financial Support offer advice on financial matters.
Personal extenuating circumstances
Unavoidable personal circumstances may affect your ability to complete assessments. You should complete a Personal Extenuating Circumstances (PEC) form if that's the case.
You should speak with your personal tutor or wellbeing manager before completing it. They will be able to help with phrasing for the form and in some cases provide a statement of support.
You should submit PEC forms in advance of any deadline. This gives the School the best chance of considering appropriate adjustments.
