Aris joined Newcastle Law School in January 2018, having previously taught at the University of Nottingham. He completed his PhD in December of 2018 (without corrections) at the University of Nottingham, School of Law for which he was awarded a generous scholarship by the same school. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Aris currently teaches Introduction to Business Law, Contract Law and Commercial Law. In the past, he also taught EU law. Aris has been nominated 4 times for the Newcastle University Students’ Union education awards in the categories of ‘Outstanding Contribution to Teaching’ and ‘Outstanding Contribution to Academic Support’.
Aris is currently a Senior Tutor at the Law School. In the past, he held various important leadership roles including that of Deputy Director of International Partnership and Programmes & Exchange Coordinator, Stage 1 Lead, Undergraduate Deputy Degree Programme Director, Law School representative to the Library Committee, and PG admission team.
Aris is currently acting as an external examiner for three institutions: the University of York, London Metropolitan University, and Liverpool John Moores University.
Aris is an academic in economic and commercial law. Currently, Aris' research focuses on the area of government contract regulation and accountability in contracting both for the public and the private sector. Aris also has a strong interest in pedagogy and is currently working on a textbook in business law to be published by Cambridge University Press.
