Staff Profile

Chris joined Newcastle Law School in Sept 2019 as a lecturer and teaches across a range of post-graduate and undergraduate modules with a particular interest in employability, compliance and ethics and all aspects of business and commercial law.  She is joint academic lead for Employability and Enterprise.

Chris is a qualified solicitor, she trained with Muckle LLP a commercial firm in Newcastle before qualifying in 1997. She undertook corporate, banking and insolvency work as an Associate with Muckle LLP acting for a range corporate clients and banks.  Following this Chris joined Northumbria University as a senior lecturer teaching on the Legal Practice Course and MLAW, she was module tutor for Business Law and Practice, Professional Conduct and Ethics and Advanced Insolvency also teaching on the Law of Business Associations and Employability modules.

Prior to joining Newcastle Law School Chris was Risk and Compliance manager for Square One Law where she was responsible for all aspects of compliance and regulation, AML and best practice and risk management around legal advice and client service delivery.

Chris is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
