The University of the West Indies was founded in 1948 as a university college. Today, the university boasts 5 regional campuses and 10 global centres in North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia. 

The capital and largest city of Jamaica, Kingston was founded in 1692 and is considered the cultural hub and business capital.
