One thing I like about using Canvas is that I can get help anytime, 24/7 by clicking on the Help button.

Come along to a drop in session
Come and join us in a drop-in session where colleagues will be on hand to answer your Canvas related questions or any other questions you have.
What are blueprints?
Canvas blueprints are template courses that can push out information to their associated courses as and when needed. For example, each school will have a master blueprint template and all the relevant associated academic modules are attached to this master in Canvas. This academic year we have 2 different types being used: Default and Bespoke (school specific).
What happens to imported ReCap recordings?
ReCap content is not included in the import process. Please note, if you have ReCap recordings added as a module item or embedded in a page, these will be linked to the previous years’ content that this year's students will not be able to access.
To reuse ReCap recordings from previous years you should create a copy of the existing recording(s), move the copies to the folder for this year, and recreate the links within modules.
- To make copies of recordings follow this guide.
- To add a link as a module item or embed in a page follow this guide.
Please note, to do this you must be the creator of the original recording (or have permission from them) and be a teacher on both courses.
When do my Canvas Courses need to be updated and published by?
Canvas Courses will need to be updated and published before students start their course. The courses are now available so you can work on your new Canvas courses at the time that works for you. You can publish your course before the students are enrolled if you wish to.
How do communities work?
Communities will function as before. New communities will not be created as part of this process, but enrolments into communities will be managed through programme codes.
To request that a new community is created, complete this New Community Request Form.
How do jointly-taught/parent-child modules work?
For existing jointly-taught/parent-child modules (also known as cross-listed modules), a new module will be created for you and the child modules will be added. Content can then be added to this new parent module.
If you need to request a new jointly-taiught/parent-child module, that didn’t exist in the previous year, this can be requested using the existing request form.
Please note the data feed is unable to pull through any information from MOFs directly to the Syllabus area of a parent course - the required content should be added manually. This could be added to the Syllabus area and in this instance the content won’t be overridden by the daily data feed.
Where do I find help on new course provision and access?
