Roles and permissions

NEW: A vision for education and skills at Newcastle University: Education for Life 2030+

Roles and permissions

Permissions allow users to access specific student data within the learning analytics system and these permissions are dependent on the role that a user has been given.

The role that has been applied to you is determined by your relationship to students and modules within your School. Although, it is possible for users to have more than one role within the system, e.g., Personal Tutor and Senior Tutor.

On this page you can find out more about the roles available within the system and the process for approval for colleagues requiring additional roles.

Roles within the learning analytics system

The following roles are available within the learning analytics system:

  • Personal Tutor
  • School based Professional Services
  • Senior Tutor
  • Degree Programme Director
  • Director of Education
  • Head of School
  • Student Wellbeing Adviser (School based)
  • Student Health and Wellbeing Services

If you require an additional role within the system, please follow the approval process below.

Process for Approval

  • Roles are assigned based on institutional role information managed by LTDS, which is updated annually by Schools in September.
  • Any colleague that requires a different/additional role should forward their request to learning.analytics@newcastle.ac.uk indicating the role needed.
