Placements is available to all programmes/modules in the University. If you would like to leverage the tools within the Placements system to enhance your programmes, please contact IT Helpdesk at it.servicedesk@ncl.ac.uk In doing so, you will receive the following set up and support:

Set-up and Support

Initial set-up

As part of the initial set-up of the Placements system to support programme/module contexts, the following processes will be undertaken by the Placements management team and relevant School-based colleagues supporting placements:

  • Consultation/requirements gathering
  • Basic set-up of placement scheme, linked to programme(s)/module(s)
  • Setting up forms & rubric based assessments (as applicable)
  • Train-the-trainer session and documentation for administrative colleagues & lead academic(s), including:
    • Managing placement locations & external supervisor accounts
    • Allocating students to Placements
    • Managing forms/rubric-based assessments & automating deadlines
  • Collaboration with initial evaluation/piloting

School-level responsibilities

Once initial set-up is complete, the following processes will be managed at a School-level:

  • Managing placement locations & external supervisor accounts
  • Allocating Students to Placements
  • Student and Supervisor training and support (documentation is provided, but amendments will be required to suit School-specific set-up)
  • Updating forms/creating new forms (as required)
  • Minor academic year roll-over tasks (if applicable)
  • Additional training sessions, led by colleagues who attended the training session during initial set-up (as applicable)
