Charlotte Boulton
Inclusive Newcastle Research, Evaluation & Policy Officer
I am the Inclusive Newcastle Research, Evaluation & Policy Officer within the Inclusive Newcastle Knowledge Centre. I am involved in various research projects and evaluations focusing on providing an equitable educational experience for all students. My role also encompasses managing the website and communications for the team, and providing operational and administrative support for the team and the development of the Access and Participation Plan.
My research background is in sociological theories of class and higher education. I am also interested in examining gender, race, and experiences of inequalities through a feminist sociological lens. In my current role I have developed skills in Theory of Change evaluation methodologies and support colleagues to develop their own project evaluations. I am keen to embed meaningful co-creation with students in the work of myself and the team.
I was the Postgraduate Officer at Newcastle University Students' Union 2020/21, where I represented the interests of PGT and PGR students and developed policies and activities to support students during the peak of Covid disruption. Prior to this, I completed my MA Sociology and BA Media, Communication and Cultural Studies degrees at Newcastle.
