Bio
I am based in the Digital Education Projects Team of the Learning and Teaching Development Service (LTDS). As a Learning Design and Curriculum Development Adviser, I support academic and professional service colleagues to identify appropriate ways to embed digital technologies into their students’ learning experiences. This can include working with academic units to review assessment and feedback practices, collaborate with programme teams and students to develop a new, innovative, and flexible curriculum, and support the delivery of a diverse range of staff development opportunities, all with the aim of enhancing the student learning experience.
Before joining LTDS in January 2024, I worked as a lecturer in the School of History, Classics & Archaeology at Newcastle University where I designed and delivered several new modules, an annual summer school to support the PARTNERS programme (widening participation), and student internship opportunities with the Great North Museum: Hancock. I am especially interested in how digital education and experiential learning can improve students’ experiences, engagement, and employability and have previously used ArcGIS StoryMaps as an assessment tool to help students practice digital creativity. I have a decade of teaching experience across three UK universities, am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and hold a doctorate in History.
