School of Maths, Stats and Physics recently awarded STFC CDT bid for data intensive science

The School has recently been awarded an STFC CDT bid for data intensive science.  The centre, one of only five awarded throughout the UK is called NUdata and is a collaboration with Northumbria University and more than 40 industrial partners.  Students will do a PhD in STFC science of a data intensive nature, but will also take classes in data science and do a six month placement in industry/charity or government.  The goal of the centre is to train students in data science so that they can contribute to their academic discipline or to industry.  The leadership team at Newcastle includes Rogers & Oates (MSP) and McGough in Computing.
