Staff Profile
I am a Senior Lecturer in Statistical Data Science at Newcastle University. My role is primarily student facing, teaching on a variety of undergraduate and masters level modules in statistics and data science, in addition to project supervision.
My administrative roles include Academic Lead for Employability and Enterprise, where I am responsible for boosting the employability of our students, through events and workshops with graduate employers, as well as general skills training for our students. I am also the skills lead for the school, responsible for developing CPD training on topics in mathematics, statistics and physics to be delivered to our industry partners.
I am interested in all areas of applied statistics, using statistical methods to solve real world problems.
My main areas of interest involve statistical methodology for road safety analysis, which formed an impact case study submission for REF2018.
I have worked on statistical consultancy projects on a variety of areas, including biomedical engineering, electrification, and government policy, and have supervised PhD students on topics ranging from civil engineering, streaming data analytics, and geographic isolation.
In addition I have a keen interest in data science pedagogy, and am a member of the Digital Learning research group, and the Sports Modelling research group.
