Staff Profile
Originally from Mexico City, I pursued my academic journey across continents, obtaining a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Edinburgh, UK. My dissertation focused on Bayesian analysis of jointly heavy-tailed data under the guidance of Supervisor Miguel de Carvalho. From 2022 to 2023, I was a University teacher in Statistics at the University of Edinburgh, UK.
Prior to that, I earned an MSc in Mathematical Sciences from UNAM, Mexico, specializing in spatio-temporal analysis of air pollution in the Mexico valley. My undergraduate studies also took place at UNAM, where I completed a BSc in Actuarial Science, achieving a Diploma of Academic Achievement with honours.
Currently, I am a Lecturer in Statistics at Newcastle University, starting from 2023.
My research interests are: Applied Probability, Applied Statistics, Bayesian Statistics and Statistics of Extremes.
