Lupus GWAS Revisited

Speaker: James Bentham

Lupus GWAS Revisited

A genome-wide association study (or GWAS) is carried out in order to identify genetic associations with disease. In 2015, we published a GWAS of Lupus, an anuto-immune disease. This was a substantial project but used relatively simple statistical yechniques, and only identified associations that explained 10% of the total heritability of the disease. I will explain why these studies are so challenging, why PCA and logistic regression are still standard methods used in GWAS and will present ideas on how progress might be made.
