Aleksey Kozikov is an experimental physicist. He works on developing technologies to produce quantum light sources optimised for secure transmission of information (quantum communication) for applications in the field of quantum cryptography. Examples of light sources include integrated deterministic single photon light emitting diodes (LEDs) and double quantum well LEDs that generate interlayer excitons and entangled photon pairs. He investigates optoelectronics properties of these devices using various optical techniques.
More broadly, his work focuses on understanding optoelectronics and quantum electron transport properties of low-dimensional systems, including 2D materials (graphene, hexagonal boron nitride, transition metal dichalcogenides, perovskites), their van der Waals heterostructures and GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructures. The work involves nanofabrication, optical and electron transport measurements, scanning probe microscopy and instrumentation development.
