About Andreas

Why did you choose to study your degree at Newcastle University?

The reason I came to study here at Newcastle University, was the simplicity of the city. As everything is within walking distance and as the city is surrounded by students, it was a guarantee that I would be in a friendly, safe and comforting city. Education-wise, I was thrilled to know that I would be learning coding (Python and R), Stats, Applied and Pure Maths. Basically gaining all the essential knowledge to be eligible to work at any industry of my desire after I graduate!

Are you enjoying your degree? Can you tell us about some of your highlights to date?

Yes! I wouldn't change anything. I had the honour to travel with the University back to my home country to work as an International Ambassador with ten of my course mates. We had the opportunity to teach once a day to each school so we could boost our CV to start applying for teaching jobs. In addition, the societies have been really interesting and everyone is social and approachable.

What is the student community like within your subject?

As we have numerous assignments throughout the semester, we meet at the penthouse of the Herschel Building and we discuss any questions we have. Or we hangout there between our lectures as its accessible to only Mathematics, Statistics and Physics students.

Are you a member of any societies? If so, could you tell us how you got involved in them and what you enjoy about them?

Skate Sport Club Society, 20 Minutes Society, 93% Society, Poker Society, Cyber Society, Math Society, Greek & Cypriot Society.

What is your favourite thing about Newcastle as a city?

Everything is walking distance and it's a university city so everyone is friendly and surrounded by university students.

What advice would you give to international students considering studying your degree at Newcastle University?

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That's why it's called a present. So enjoy every day of your university life because the three years will pass in a glance!
