About Antonia
Why did you choose to study your degree at Newcastle University?
When searching, I noticed that the University belongs to the Russell Group which actually grabbed my attention. Furthermore, I really liked Newcastle in general and I saw that there is nightlife balanced with a really good course (focusing on the modules).
What was the support from the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics like when you first started?
The Transition Officer was really helpful and helped us keep on track with everything. My Personal Tutor was also helpful, not only with any academic queries but also with any mental health concerns and seeing if I was happy and had friends etc. This was really kind of him as I am far away from my family, so I really appreciated it.
What has your favourite module been so far?
Calculus and Statistics are my favourite modules, I’m really enjoy them and find them interesting.
Are you a member of any societies? If so, could you tell us how you got involved in them and what you enjoy about them?
I am a member of the Greek and Cypriot Society. The president of the society has created a community and organises events to make us feel like we are at home in some kind of way.
What advice would you give to international students considering studying your degree at Newcastle University?
Just do it! It’s a really strong degree and our module leaders are really helpful, they have office hours where you can get extra one-on-one help which is extremely helpful and you never feel alone on such a challenging degree.
