Emily is a Lecturer in Anatomy, based in the School of Medical Education. She develops and delivers anatomy teaching to the first two years of the MBBS curriculum, and to various other programmes across the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
She also has a role in student support, and has a role as the Lead Academic Mentor for the Essentials of Medical Practice stage of the MBBS programme.
Emily is involved with public engagement with anatomy, and led the inaugural World Anatomy Day series of events held in collaboration with the University of Sunderland in 2022. These events won the Inclusive Education, Lifelong Learning and CPD Award at the 2023 Engagement and Place Awards.
Emily designs, develops and delivers anatomy teaching for the graduate and undergraduate MBBS programme. She is the module lead for a sports and exercise science anatomy module (SES1004) and leads on a unit of study for the MBBS programme: Case 23 (arthritis). She also teaches anatomy on other medical sciences degrees and external training courses.
Emily is currently completing a part-time PhD in Medical Education. Her project is on anatomy teaching and learning for students who are neurodiverse or have specific learning difficulties.
Her other research interests are in public engagement, technology-enhanced learning for anatomy, and art-based anatomy teaching.
