Teaching Rationale And Relationship

This module entails the development of students' critical thinking skills about contemporary issues in international business and management. This requires a flexible approach to teaching and learning to accommodate the needs and interests of different students for different masters programs. Lectures are used to introduce material to students and explore theories and concepts.

For guided independent study, readings are recommended from the textbook and a variety of academic sources including case studies.

Student led group activity is an important element because it enables students to practice their skills and collaborate with their colleagues in small groups. Small group activities are carefully facilitated to support students to gain confidence by critically evaluating the assigned readings/case studies through discussions, and creatively presenting their evaluation to their peers. The module will also incorporate structured non-synchronous activities (for example non-synchronous discussion boards and reflection logs) designed to supplement the scheduled learning and teaching activities for a deeper learning experience.

Study clinics are used to deal with academic issues which may be causing students problems and/or students who need extra support in preparing their assessments.

For assessments, students practice their research skills (e.g. using business databases), and group work to develop their critical thinking skills and to scaffold their preparation for the summative assessment and instil a problem solving focused collaborative approach.
