'Lublin': Manya Wilkinson

'Lublin': Manya Wilkinson in conversation with Sinéad Morrissey

In 1907, three young lads seek their fortune on the road to Lublin, what could go wrong ...?

Lublin (And Other Stories, 2024) is Manya’s second novel: devastatingly sharp and brilliantly paced, by turns absurd, riveting, alarming, and hilarious. ‘Told against the engulfing dark of the 20th century, Lublin glitters with beauty, comedy and compassion. A glorious, ringing and resonating book by a master storyteller.’ Jacob Polley

Manya (Margaret) Wilkinson has taught prose and scriptwriting on the MA in Creative Writing at Newcastle University and now teaches workshops, and leads the Spring School in Creative Writing at NCLA. Her first novel Ocean Avenue was published by Serpent’s Tail and her short stories by Comma Press. Her radio dramas have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4: Afternoon Play, Saturday Drama, Writing the Century and Woman’s Hour.

She lives in Newcastle and is a writer at Mslexia magazine.
