01 April, 11:00
Newcastle University Campus

We are delighted to invite you to the RSC Higher Education Group Winter Meeting: Building Bridges in Chemistry Education.

This year, the 2025 winter meeting will be taking place in-person only at Newcastle University on 01/04/2025. As is customary, this is a one-day event. Doors will open at 10am for registration, with the formal programme starting at 11am. We are aiming to finish the day by 4pm. Here is a rough itinerary for the day:

10:00am-11:00am Registration and welcome

11:00am-11:05am Introduction to the event

11:05am-12:00pm Plenary talk: Professor Michael Seery. Title tbc

12:00pm-13:00pm Flash talks*

13:00pm-14:00pm Lunch and networking

14:00pm–15:30pm Discussion groups

15:30pm-16:00pm Summary and closing remarks

*We are not expecting abstract submissions, but would like to invite all participants to prepare a 2min presentation on their latest involvement or initiative in Chemistry (or related) Education. This may be an initiative that you have fully evaluated, an idea or a problem you have been stuck on and would like some input from the community.

The nature of this meeting is very informal and we would like to encourage participation from people at all stages of their chemistry education journey. Everyone will have a "nugget" (or two) of excellence in teaching that will be worthwhile sharing.

We thank the RSC HEG group, as well as the RSC North East local section for their support. We are also looking forward to hosting reps from learning science, who will be keen to talk to people from across the sector.

The RSC Higher Education Group has a limited number of bursaries available to support participation by RSC members in professional development events, workshops, conferences, and RSC HE Chemistry Teaching Network meetings. More information is available here

The event is free to attend, but you must register in advance using the link below.
