Our research applies fundamental chemical science to understand and solve the problems of tomorrow.
Our research extends the boundaries of understanding in the chemical sciences. Supported by state-of-the-art facilities, we tackle fundamental and applied research challenges. These range from the molecular scale to proteins and operating photovoltaics.
We translate this to achieve broad impacts and overcome major societal challenges. We do this in key areas such as drug discovery, sustainability and energy.
We co-ordinate our research through three interdisciplinary academic groupings:
- Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology
- Functional Molecules and Materials
- Synthesis, Structure and Reactivity
These span our expertise across inorganic, organic, physical, biological and computational chemistry. They develop our five distinctively interdisciplinary research themes.
