Andrew's research focuses on understanding the human (anthropogenic) interactions with the marine environment, especially those concerning fisheries, offshore construction and tourism, with a particular interest in marine megafauna (marine mammals, sharks, rays, large bony fishes and sea turtles).
As an interdisciplinary researcher, Andrew's work incorporates mixed-method (qualitative and quantitative) approaches, often working in close collaboration with researchers in other specialisms, such as engineering and social sciences. Further, he has a strong track record of collaborative work in inter-cultural teams, engaging with individuals and communities of varied educational, religious, gender and age backgrounds and at the industry-academia and government-academia interfaces.
Andrew's work incorporates a wide range of methodologies associated with fisheries science, species life-history, bioacoustics (including passive acoustic monitoring), human resource dependence, and resource economic valuation.
