I am from Singapore and I graduated from the class of 2017. I am intrigued and fascinated with animals, particularly companion animals. I wanted a career in the health and wellbeing of animals. This is why I chose Animal Science at Newcastle University.
The teaching on my course has been excellent, and I like that the staff deliver a range of teaching formats, such as lectures, tutorials, seminars and lab sessions. The staff are really supportive and helpful, and passionate about their subject.
The lecturers are really nice. Science can sometimes seem boring and complex but with passionate staff, the course is really interesting!
For my year out I worked for Micron Bio-Systems, a biotechnology company based in Somerset. They make products to address productive, nutritional and health challenges in livestock. Silage innoculants or mycotoxin binders are examples. My specific role was in the research and development department.
