- angel alliance - a partnership between Newcastle and Durham Universities focused on turning academic research into commercial success, engaging directly with the regional NHS Foundation Trusts
- Newcastle science city - an established partnership between Newcastle University and Newcastle City Council with the development of Newcastle Helix
