I am a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Medical Sciences School of Pharmacy.

I originally worked as a veterinary surgeon in mixed, mainly farm practice for many years, but looking for a new challenge I completed a Masters degree online in food safety management, which led me to developing science-related online courses, originally for a collaboration between Manchester Metropolitan and UCLan universities, the North West Food and Health Taskforce.

I have worked at Newcastle University since 2010. I developed online courses for the Faculty of Medical Sciences Graduate School as well as online resources for blended learning for undergraduates in the FMS covering many different topic areas.

I also provide training for staff in online pedagogy and the use of technology for teaching online within the FMS and the wider university.

I am Degree Programme Director for the online masters programmes in Clinical Research and in Oncology and Palliative Care.

I am Chair of the Board of Examiners for the Masters of Clinical Science.

I have recently undertaken a PhD by publication, researching development of identity in online masters students and teaching staff who teach online at masters level.

I took over as joint PI for a UEC-funded project covering the use of technology enhanced learning across all campuses of Newcastle University in February 2019.
