Newcastle and the North East will be on show this weekend as visitors from across the UK and Europe flock to Newcastle University’s summer Undergraduate Open Days.

Over 18,000 prospective students and their families will visit the city-centre campus on Friday 26 June and Saturday 27 June to find out more about the undergraduate degrees on offer and get a feel for the University and the city.

Visitors will be welcomed by current students at key locations across the city and NewcastleGateshead Initiative will host a stand at Central Station. 

Professor Suzanne Cholerton, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Learning and Teaching, said: “We always have an overwhelming response from prospective students to attend our  U ndergraduate  Open Days, and a big part of the attraction of studying here is the city itself and the people, who always give visitors a warm welcome. Over 95% of our visitors said they were more or just as likely to apply to the University following our Open Days last year.

“The Open Days are an ideal opportunity for visitors to get to know the University, academic subjects, our vibrant city and to find out what it’s like to be part of the friendly student community here at Newcastle. 

“People coming to our campus will also get a taste of the outstanding student experience, which has been ranked Top 10 in the UK in the latest Student Experience Survey and which has been enhanced by a recent £30m investment to improve student accommodation, teaching and research facilities.“

Over 60 subject sessions are lined up throughout the day giving visitors an insight into a wide-range of degrees available for 2016 entry, including new degrees in Exercise Biomedicine and Film and Media.

Visitors will have a chance to share their Open Day experiences on the day with their networks using #nclvisit.
