Thirty years AMBA accreditation

Business School celebrates thirty years of international accreditation

Published on: 13 April 2018

Newcastle University Business School is celebrating 30 years of international accreditation for its MBA programme, highlighting its commitment to excellence in management education.

Global standard for MBAs

Known as the global standard for all MBAs across the world, the Association of MBAs (AMBA) recognises only the world’s top 2 per cent of business schools and represents the highest standard of achievement in management education.

AMBA takes on board feedback from programme directors and current and former students, and ensures the MBA programme delivered by Newcastle University Business School meets AMBA’s rigorous international standards, providing students with a world-class experience and help them to further their global career.

Professor Sharon Mavin, Director of Newcastle University Business School, said: “We are extremely passionate about our MBA programme and we are proud to be able to celebrate 30 years of AMBA accreditation since 1988.

“Looking back over the 30 years, our programme has, and will continue to, evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of future leaders.

“As we focus on educating for the ‘Future of Work’ and ‘Leading on Leadership’ we will continue to engage with the constructive feedback AMBA provides to ensure that we attract high-potential individuals to lead and develop organisations and make a positive and responsible contribution to society.”

One of the world's leading business schools

The accreditation comes at an exciting time for AMBA, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2017.

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of AMBA, said: “AMBA is a truly global business organisation and the only accrediting body that specifically focuses on accrediting MBA programmes.

“We are very particular about who we accredit. In fact, AMBA accredits only 2% of the world’s entire portfolio of business schools.

“Operating as both an accreditation and membership organisation, AMBA is unique in the postgraduate management field, as we bring together the business leaders of tomorrow with the thought leaders of today. With its 30-year accreditation, Newcastle University Business School is a valued member of the world’s leading business schools.

“We value working closely with them and AMBA’s MBA members to ensure outstanding postgraduate management education continues to be the top priority for employers, governments and ambitious executives who will become the global business leaders of the future.”

In recognition of Newcastle’s 30 years of AMBA accreditation and the 50th anniversary of AMBA, Newcastle University Business School is offering two full-fee scholarships  for students looking to start an MBA in 2018. Successful candidates should demonstrate that they share AMBA’s values in promoting sustainable and responsible management and have strong potential for career advancement.

The Business School will also be holding an open evening for its MBA programme on Thursday 24 May 2018. To find out more, visit www.ncl.ac.uk/business-school/events.
