Professor Robinson leads the University's engagement and place strategy, focusing on partnerships to enhance social, economic, and cultural contributions to the region. Previously, she was the Chief Operating Officer at Durham University and Chief Executive of Gateshead Council. 

As well as overseeing the activities of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) in the North East and Tees Valley, Jane will join the CBI’s most senior policy-mandating and cross-economy board – the CBI Chairs’ Committee.  

Representing the views of regional companies, she will ensure the UK’s most influential business network reflects the priorities of firms in North East England.

His steadfast support and guidance have been invaluable, especially through some tough times for the business community. We are pleased to confirm that Frank will continue to contribute as Vice Chair throughout 2025.” 

Professor Jane Robinson, New North East Chair, CBI said:

Professor Robinson joined the CBI North East Council in 2022. Her term as Chair will run to the end of December 2026.
