Prior to joining academia, Jillian worked in industry for a national utilities company in sales and marketing and as a project associate with a service sector SME. Jillian began her academic career at the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, University of Strathclyde, working with some of the pioneer entrepreneurship educators from the UK, teaching across a portfolio of classes which spanned cross-faculty and academic years. During her time at the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, Jillian developed an expertise in the design and delivery of student-centered experiential learning programmes in close collaboration with industry. Jillian undertook a PhD on a part-time basis whilst working full-time, graduating in November 2011 with a Doctorate titled: Power, Wealth and Entrepreneurial Philanthropy in the New Global Economy.
Jillian joined the Adam Smith Business School in August 2014 and immediately assumed the role of Honours Convenor overseeing the Honours programme for the MA Business and Management degree. Jillian has subsequently led a review of the undergraduate MA in Business and Management and now sits on the Implementation Group for the re-visioning of a new MA degree.
Jillian currently serves as a board member on two key project delivery governance boards as part of the UofG campus re-development. This includes the Adam Smith Business School Project Board that oversees the provisioning of the Gilbert Scott Building; and the Research and Enterprise Hub Project Board, an exciting new space for multi-disciplinary innovative and collaborative research and industry engagement.
