REWP Staff Profile
Victor Harlow
Research Associate
Background
Victor completed his doctoral research in the School of History, Classics and Archaeology. His research focuses on the development and implementation of education policy in Northumberland between 1869-1879. At this time state schools were established through school boards and the nature of provision, funding and regulation of education in England drastically altered.
Alongside religious, philanthropic, industrial, and newly emerging Board schools he examines the emergence of Private Adventure Schools and the possible role they played in providing education to children from working-class and low-income families.
Victor helped develop the research which underpinned the GeNErosity Festival, which took place in 2018.
