What is your current role?
I'm a producer and editor for 'Panorama', the leading political programme on the Bulgarian National Television for over 50 years.
'Panorama' offers in-depth analysis of national and international politics, where members of parliament and experts discuss policies, social trends and the state of Bulgarian democracy.
What is the best part of your job?
Examining issues of major importance to our society such as disinformation, freedom of speech and the consequences of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
Investigating these phenomena enables me to better work in the public interest by explaining to our audience what forces are shaping the public discourse.
Studying at Newcastle
What did you enjoy the most about studying at Newcastle?
My time in Newcastle was one of the most memorable and fulfilling periods of my life.
I loved my relationship with friends from around the globe as well as my teachers who provided me with all the care and attention I needed while working on my degree.
They also helped me to overcome personal difficulties and deal with the mental challenges of moving across Europe to live in the UK.

At the same time, I fell in love with journalism while working for The Courier for three years. I worked there first as a reporter, and then as a sports and news editor.
The dedication and chemistry our team developed while under the guidance of the great editor-in-chief Tom Nicholson made me truly appreciate this profession and inspired me to pursue a career in media.
Last but not least, as a lifelong football fan, living a mile away from St. James’ Park and watching Newcastle United was a dream come true – an experience like no other.
What skills and knowledge have you found useful in your career?

Critical thinking is by far the most important skill I developed during my three years at Newcastle University. Being able to scrutinise media content has made me far less susceptible to fake news and false narratives, the plague of our time.
It's also made me more willing to always seek alternative perspectives and look at every problem from several angles. I see these habits as a fundamental part of my job as a journalist, but also a citizen and voter.
