Undergraduate Study in Film
Want to explore the world through the lens of a camera? Learn the practical skills of documentary film-making set within the context of media and cultural studies.
Our Film degrees
We offer two undergraduate Film degrees — both teach the practical skills of creative documentary film-making. You’ll work on a range of different pieces of documentary-based film work, both independently and in crews.
While the two degrees share some modules at each Stage, they do differ.

You can also choose to combine the study of documentary practice with other subjects as part of a Combined Honours degree.
BA (Hons) in Film Practices
Our Film Practices degree provides advanced creative documentary film-making and storytelling skills. You’ll explore ideas-led film-making, film theory for practice, and both fiction and non-fiction world cinema. You’ll also gain a thorough understanding of the structures and workings of the film industry.

It’s unbelievable how quickly you learn when you get your hands on the tools. Before I started my course, I didn’t know anything about camera work, or video and sound editing. After a year practising these skills, I have learned so much.
