Claire Logue is a Broadcast Journalist and Module Leader for MCH2059 : Media Law and Ethics for the Journalism, Media and Culture BA Honours degree programme since September 2024.
After completing her post graduate studies at Newcastle University in 2015 with an MA in Media & Journalism, she went on to work in the radio industry under her maiden name of Claire Hawthorn, at the BBC, Global, and Bauer Media.
During her 10 year career she has worked across most newsroom positions including as a reporter, producer, newsreader and news editor on local and national stations, including LBC, BBC 5Live, Capital, Heart, Smooth, Greatest Hits Radio, Free Radio in the West Midlands and Black Country and Metro Radio in the North East.
She is currently a freelance newsreader for the Times at Times Radio.
She was part of the IRN News Team of the Year - for audiences over 1.5 million in 2019.
Claire has been a contributing editor to JesmondLocal since 2016 and was previously a mentor on Bauer Media's journalism mentoring programme.
Claire joined the teaching team at Newcastle University in 2023 as a Lecturer on the undergraduate and postgraduate taught journalism programmes.
She is Fluent in French and German and has an interest in European culture and politics.
She received her undergraduate degree in German from The University of Western Australia in Perth, Australia in 2010.
