Staff Profile

I compose contemporary classical music. My style is based on Renaissance and Baroque models but freely uses aspects of later music. I am best known for writing choral music, with my carol Noel: Verbum Caro Factum Est being internationally popular, but I also write organ and ensemble music.

My teaching at Newcastle University mainly focusses on music theory, with an emphasis on applying it creatively, but I have also contributed to courses on orchestration and analysis.
