Project Title: Improving Cultural Property Protection Through Geospatial Methods: A Proactive Model for Domestic Implementation of the 1954 Hague Convention in England

Brittni is a cultural property protection researcher with experience in museum collections management, related emergency planning, and archaeology. She is also a Member of the UK National Committee of the Blue Shield, actively participating in several working groups focussed on heritage-related Emergency Planning & Response, Armed Conflict, and Climate Change. 

Brittni’s research focusses on the creation of a preliminary model for the improvement of domestic cultural property protection safeguarding measure implementation in England to help protect England’s iconic heritage from the negative impacts of war and armed conflict using the mechanisms of international humanitarian law. Her research highlights the utility of modern geospatial mapping methods for civil users looking to better implement the measures inculcated in key international humanitarian law (such as the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and its Second Protocol).

Brittni’s wider research interests include: Cultural Property Protection, Disaster Management, GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) Collections Management, Museum Studies, Archaeology, Heritage Management, Remote-Sensing, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
