Project Title: INFLUENCE OF HINDUSTANI CLASSICAL MUSIC AND RASA THEORY ON HINDI CINEMA
Punit is a consulting engineer, who works on international Rail-infrastructure projects while pursuing his PhD part time. He is also an educated Sitar and Tabla artist. He is currently on the verge of submitting his PhD dissertation.
The project examines the influence of North Indian classical music and the ancient Indian theory of aesthetics known as the Rasa theory on Indian cinema. It examines in detail, the melodic and rhythmic frameworks sourced from North Indian classical music traditions and their applications in composing film music.
My research interests include Indian music, Indian history, Bollywood cinema, Playing Hindustani classical music, reading, cricket, swimming, travelling.
