Our distinctiveness and strength in research stems from the plurality of the practices, ideas and approaches that we teach, research and pursue, in our own practices as artists or as art historians.
In the Research Excellence Framework 2021, 97% of our research was deemed to be 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent'.

Media, Culture, Heritage research ranking
Our research is world-renowned and internationally-oriented. Much of our research is interdisciplinary and has strong social relevance. It engages with public culture, policy concerns and contemporary debates in cultural and social politics.
